Three boys who can’t stay out of trouble on the streets of New York - Pedro, Caleb and the manipulative Javier, put Rachael Raymonds’ faith to the test, as she tries to save them from the unscrupulous Detective Macino and from themselves. She must resist the seductive charm of the sensual 17-year-old Javier, who could easily corrupt the household.
The opposing worlds of the Safe House Sistahs and the Gangsta kids collide under the one roof and sparks fly. Can the caring women at the safe-house bring their last-chance residents back to sanity? In Putnam County, the laws and codes of the rival gangs, Vipers and the Cobras, reach deep into young men’s hearts; the struggle for power that finally explodes in death and vengeance will leave Putnam County staggering.

I really liked this story. The fbi agents bored me (it was like being back in class again) and Rachel's dinner date convo bored me as well (you will get it when you read the book); but, I liked this book from start to finish. I do agree with the author. Gangs are a constant tug at our youth. Too often do a lot of them fall through the cracks. There are some real like Jonathans, dirty cops, Vipers, and Rachels out there. I think I felt really bad for Vianna. This book does tug at your heart. Especially if you've ever worked with kids. You start thinking about all of them. It led me to pray for them. As I said, I liked it from start to finish.Product details

Javier edition by HH Fowler Anita Bunkley Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Manipulative, crafty and young,Javiar thinks he is in control until he meets Rachael Raymonds. Rachael's concern for him and the other boys in the group home where she works catches his attention. Javiar thinks he can not be saved. Rachael proves him wrong.
3.5
It was a great book. The scenes were so real. However, I didn't like that he and Pedro died along with a few others. Javier was not the nicest person but when God got a whole of him; the changes were visible.
This book was terrific. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Very unpredictable and I loved the fact that it was an ending-----not a cliffhanger type of thing!! Y do authors do that anyway? If the authors are really good, I will read more of their books!! Great job Mr. Fowler. I can't wait to read more of your books!!!!!!
I cried like a baby at the end! This book is one that all young people both males and females need to indulge in. I loved every minute of this book. I still can't believe I cried so hard. It was just like tears streaming down my face. I'm naturally soft at heart but the ending of this book was truly eye opening and touching- A must read!
On the front of the book is say Javier. But when I started to read it, it hardly had anything to do with the main character. The book was very slow at the beginning and I got bored, but I kept reading because I like to finish what I start. I wish the author could of told about the main character more. When the book did mention him it was too late because he dies at the end. Not a good read.
It took me a long time to read this book. I ordered it and kept putting off reading it. This book is what we're living now. It talks about gangs and the lives of our young men and women and the destruction that has taken over their lives. But it also talk about how our God can bring them out. It takes Prayer, time and understanding. We don't always understanding why things happen but God always have a plan. You will want to read this book.
Let me just say that yesterday night as I was skimming through my kindle in search of something to read I stumbled upon Javier. It was one of the those books I downloaded but never read because it was free but i'm So glad I had the opportunity to read this book! It's suspenseful, gripping and leaves you on the edge of your seat. I loved the amazing contrast of the God-driven 22/23 year old Rachael Raymonds and the 17-year old hot headed Javier, they despite the age difference they worked perfectly together. Also it covers a lot of topics like Religion, Heaven and Hell, Gang Violence, Sinning and Repentance, Race and Stereotypes and Temptation. As Rachael fought long and hard to change the ways of the Safe House boys, she fought even hardest for Javier because she felt an attachment for the broken young man. Every character was realistic and had flaws and tried to work through them. There's so much I could go on about this book but to put it short I HIGHLY Recommend this book, you won't be disappointed and the best thing is that you can find at least one character you can relate with as far as personality.
